Laura and Gavin met during their first year of college. Gavin was new to the area and looking to connect with people at school, so he found Laura on Facebook through their school network and decided to meet. They’ve been inseparable ever since.
Gavin was the one who taught Laura how to ski and now it’s become their favourite activity to do together. So last year on their annual ski trip, Gavin popped the question right there on the ski hill. Laura was completely surprised and Gavin even arranged for their family to meet them at the bottom of the hill to celebrate.
The bride and groom find it hard to pick just one favourite wedding moment, but walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time was a very special moment. “We debated for a while on whether to do a “first look” or not, and I’m so happy we stayed traditional and saw each other at the ceremony,” says Laura. “We rounded the corner and I saw Gavin at the end of the aisle, neither of us could hold back the tears, it was magical.”
And as for the couple’s favourite wedding details? A few that stand out in mind are the wedding cake made by the bride’s sister, the wedding favours of vintage-style skeleton key bottle openers, and the guest book canoe paddles handmade by the bride’s father. “We also planted trees during our ceremony which was very meaningful to us,” adds Laura.

Reception décor: Lots of string globe lights and paper lanterns. Handmade ribbon wall head table backdrop. Centerpieces were wood slabs with mason jars, ribbon, twine, fresh flowers. Candles at tables and inside both fireplaces.
